Quill & Inkling was set up by swashbuckling adventurers Ivan Wilkinson and Beth Moreno Rivera to provide exciting theatrical experiences.
Ivan Wilkinson
Co-founder of Quill and Inkling, Ivan has written several adaptations which have toured successfully. As well as ‘The Scarlet Pimpernel’ and ‘The Prisoner of Zenda,’ Ivan adapted ‘The Three Musketeers’ for Baroque Theatre Company, both of which he also directed. He also wrote an adaptation of ‘Kidnapped’ which toured nationally with Sell A Door Theatre Company.
Beth Moreno Rivera
Beth is passionate about theatre, and has been the main creative force behind a series of tours in Italy, showcasing British theatre styles and genres. One of the founders of Quill and Inkling, Beth’s drive and artistic vision is invaluable to each production.
Quill & Inkling was founded in 2014 by Beth Moreno Rivera and Ivan Wilkinson, who discovered very quickly that they shared a love of old folk tales, myth and history and a mutual inability to tell those stories in a straightforward way.
Between them, they write, produce, design, perform and tour original adaptations that balance bold storytelling with theatrical inventiveness (and, yes, a healthy sprinkle of silliness).
We specialise in bringing epic stories into intimate spaces.
Our productions are actor-led, visually inventive and designed to travel lightly. Whether we are performing in a windswept amphitheatre, a village hall, or a historic church, our work is built to adapt.
We construct our own sets, create and maintain our own costumes, and design shows that can live comfortably in heritage environments without heavy technical demands.
The aim is always the same: clear storytelling, strong atmosphere, and a direct connection with the audience.
We have a particular love for performing in places where history already lingers.
Our sets are freestanding and lightweight, requiring no fixings and we operate on a strict “leave no trace” principle. Working in conservation and heritage spaces has shaped how we design our productions; thoughtful, adaptable, and respectful of the environment.
Quill & Inkling is run by two neurodivergent directors, and that perspective informs how we create and collaborate. We value clarity, flexibility and open communication in rehearsals and partnerships alike.
We keep our teams small, our processes considered, and our approach practical, which allows us to tour efficiently while maintaining a strong artistic identity.
Alongside touring productions, we deliver workshops and educational sessions designed to bring literature and history to life for young people and community groups.
Because for us, storytelling isn’t just about performance, it’s about participation.
